On 16 July, two Black Swan International guards apprehended a suspect stealing a doctor’s bag from Port Moresby General Hospital at 3 Mile. The alleged offender had pretended to be a guardian of a patient in the ward. A nurse had witnessed the alleged offender grab the doctor’s bag from the nurses’ station and run towards an exit.

Fortunately, the Black Swan guards caught up with the offender where he became aggressive and presented a knife. One of the guards was cut on his upper left arm and his uniform was ripped in his attempt to apprehend the alleged offender before the Police arrived at the scene.

The alleged offender was then taken to the Boroko Police Station for further investigation. Black Swan General Manager, Brent Thomson, stated, “I was very impressed by the selfless and professional manner in which both guards were able to contain the offender and catch the man in action before any tools or equipment could go missing. We will ensure both guards are fit for work before returning to duty”.
